Observed Vayana Dinam 
As part of the Vayana Vaaracharanam observed on 3rd July 2025, a thought-provoking 
discussion was held on Pathummayude Aadu, the beloved classic by Vaikom Muhammed 
Basheer. Sri. Premarajan E V, Deputy Director; Sri. Jithesh Thayyil Karayi, Statistical 
Officer; Smt.Indu Mohan. T, Statistical Assistant Gr.2; Sri. Aravind Krishnan.R, Statistical 
Assistant Gr.2, Jincy George, Statistical Assistant Gr.2, Smt.Nikhila.S.V, Statistical Assistant 
Gr.2 enriched the session with their thoughtful and insightful perspectives on the book. The 
event also witnessed the inauguration of the Vayana Idam, by the Director, Sri. Rajath. G. S. 
On this special occasion, Sri. Ashwini Das and Sri. Dileep.R—staff members who have 
distinguished themselves as literary figures—were warmly felicitated for their contributions. 
Observed World Population Day 
An event in connection with World Population Day 2025 was organized in the training hall of 
the Directorate of Economics and Statistics on 11
th
 July 2025. The programme was chaired 
by the Director, Sri. Rajath. G. S.  Sri. Arun Kumar V. S., Assistant Professor of Kerala 
University, Karyavattam Campus, delivered the keynote address on this year’s theme 
"Empowering young people to create the families they want in a fair and hopeful world." Sri 
Premarajan E. V., Deputy Director, presented on the topic "Population and Statistics: A vital 
connection." Smt. C. P. Resmi, Additional Director of State Income, Smt. Shailamma K, 
Additional Director (Prices) Smt. Yamuna A. R., Joint Director, Survey and Design Division 
were felicitated the function. 
Exposure Training for ISS Probationers 
Department of Economics and Statistics (DES), Kerala conducted a one week 
exposure Training Programme from 21
st
 to 25
th
 July 2025 for the Indian Statistical Service 
(ISS) probationers from the 46
th
 Batch (2024) deputed from Government of India by National 
Statistical Systems Trajning Academy (NSSTA). Four ISS offiocers Sri. Yogesh Kumar, Sri. 
Ravisanker Maurya, Smt. Agrima Rastogi and Smt. Saumya Mishra participated the 
programme. Sri. D.S. Shibukumar, Deputy Director was the coordinator of the Exposure 
Programme. The  programme commenced on 21
st
 July with the inauguration by the Director, 
Sri. Rajath. G.S. who also delivered a comprehensive presentation on the State Statistical 
System, ongoing schemes, SASA and ICT initiatives of the department. Over the week, the

probationers received in-depth exposure to the functioning of the State Statistical System, 
including detailed sessions on various surveys and schemes implemented by the Department. 
The programme also included the participation of newly appointed Research Officers and 
Statistical Assistant Grade-II officials of the Directorate, fostering a collaborative learning 
environment. The Probationers also visited SASA,  Kerala State Statistical Commission and 
Kudumbasree State Mission and interacted with senior officials including the Chairman of 
the Statistical Commission and Kudumbasree Mission Director, enriching their understanding 
through insightful discussions.  
Field-level exposure was also organized for the ISS probationers on 22
nd
 July 2025 at 
Neyyattinkara Taluk, where they received hands-on training on EARAS, Cost of Cultivation 
and Crop Cutting Experiment of Nutmug. The programme concluded on 25
th
 July 2025 with 
a valedictory session held at the Directorate, presided over by the Director, Sri. Rajath G.S. 
During the session, the probationers shared their experiences and reflections, emphasizing the 
practical relevance and impact of the training.
